Starved for some quality new modern metal? We always are too and that’s why we’re stoked to debut the latest video, for the track “Famine”, from Los Angeles, CA’s Westfield Massacre. For those new to the group, they have a sound akin to a mash-up of American metal and more traditional European metal (think aggressive growls, soaring vocal melodies, driving drums, ripping riffs, and harmonized guitar leads). The “Famine” is taken from the guys’ upcoming sophomore recording, Salvation, which is slated to drop on October 26th via Nerve Strike Records. (We recommend pre-ordering at Spotify or Apple Music, yo.)
The new album follows 2016’s self-titled debut which spiked at #3 on the iTunes Metal chart and #14 on the Billboard Heatseeker chart, where it remained in the Top 20 for weeks. Now, armed with a new vocalist and terrific new tunes, things are looking just as solid as before, if not more so. Commenting on “Famine” and its accompanying music video, lead vocalist Seann Nicols noted:
“‘Famine’ is a song about overcoming challenges in life by making peace with yourself. When we find ourselves in a difficult situation, sometimes the reality of how we got there is just too painful to face, so we build up an emotional wall, which causes us to suffer more. To break free, we must be willing to face our fears and, ultimately, accept ourselves. We shot the video for ‘Famine’ in an industrial loft in downtown L.A. With the help of our director Ron Underwood, we wanted to convey the intense feelings associated with confronting one’s innermost fears. The stark, horror-like quality of the video reflects the anger and isolation of enduring a personal struggle.”
