Fountain Square Musical Festival – Day 2 (w/ Phantogram, Bishop Briggs & More) @ Indianapolis, IN on October 7, 2017 [Photos & Show Review]

Fountain Square Music Festival began with a bang on Friday evening – a tough act to follow for Saturday, but a task the lineup was sure to meet. The bill was led by performance powerhouses such as Phantogram, Bishop Briggs, Why?, The Cool Kids, and many more. The local supporting acts gave intimate, but strongly connected performances. Even the impending storms couldn’t dampen the spirits of fans as they lined the streets of Fountain Square in Indianapolis.
Square Cat Vinyl was host to a number of acts, each leaving everything they had on the quaint, intimate stage. As fans huddled around the small bar and lined the stacks of vinyl, they could enjoy solo acts such as Master Key or CJ Boyd with his cello. Busman’s Holiday proved a pair of pop perfection and J. Elliott, with a drummer in tow, gave an excellent acoustic performance.
Outside, the main stage was home to some of the more high energy acts. Both Dream Chief and Hoops took charge of the Nucleus Stage with their respective sets, setting the tone high for the rest of the evening. The Cool Kids differentiated the vibe with an amazing hip-hop set — one of the most memorable performances of the entire weekend. WHY? brought back the indie grooves, while Bishop Briggs wowed the crowd with a strong show. Phantogram closed out the Nucleus Stage with as great a performance as expected, reinforcing the spirit of the show.
Overall, Fountain Square Music Festival was an event for Indianapolis and the promoters to be proud of. Nowhere else can you find such a great combination of talented locals and well-known acts. Together, they made one of the most memorable weekends for music fans. Next year, the organizers will hopefully have more venues available to All-Ages. But again, Fountain Square Music Festival was a must-attend and will be again when it returns to the small, vintage square of bustling Indianapolis in 2018.
