W’re stoked to debut the latest studio recording, the three-song EP Salvation, from Birmingham, UK-based alternative electronic rock band This Burning Age! Fans of Nine Inch Nails, David Bowie and/or Hurt will want to take notice of these Brits, if they haven’t already. We’d happily bore you with more details about the band and their tunes, but why not let the experts more eloquently summarize the songs’ meanings with a little track-by-track.
01. “Conceal”
– It’s a very personal track. I was writing about the moment of clarity that can happen when you’re at your absolute lowest ebb. It’s peace after discord. Sweetness in solitude. Joy from sorrow.
02. “Repeat to Fade”
– Unusually for me this song is more of a traditional narrative. It’s about a girl who’s selling everything she has and using the only way she knows to escape. Repeat to Fade is a revisit and reworking of a track initially included on the band’s debut album, A Muzzle for the Masses.
03. “Nevermore”
– I’m afraid I’m just one more in a long line to be influenced by Poe. It’s about destructive love. It’s about a sense of loss. It’s about the desire to be completely and utterly consumed by something and, at the same time, the desire to be nothing, to be gone.
