Elements – “Where We Once Begun” [EP] [Album Review]
With British rock bands currently causing all sorts of bother in the UK charts, it’s time for the next wave of bands to step up to the plate. Are Elements one of those groups?
Judging by the fact that this year’s Reading and Leeds Festival line-up had quite a fair smattering of UK bands high up on the bill, and bands like Bring Me The Horizon, Bullet For My Valentine, and Neck Deep are now seen bothering the mainstream charts, it would seem like the UK is in quite a healthy place musically? What about the underground scene though? Well, if you’re looking for more decent up-and-coming acts then there would be no harm in checking out South Coast rockers, Elements.
Five tracks of solid modern rock is what you get for your money on their new EP Where We Once Begun – nothing too adventurous, but still worthy of a listen. Favouring that style of energetic, sassy rock that has the swagger and bounce heard by bands like YouMeAtSix and Lower Than Atlantis, the five song on this EP don’t need more than a couple of listens before the hooks start to sink in. Armed with some big-sounding riffs and enough hooks to get heads nodding, songs like “Make It Out Alive” are the sounds of a band who, while they might not become the next big thing, will certainly bag themselves plenty of loyal fans across the UK underground scene.
