Gear Review: MindFlow guitarist Rodrigo Hidalgo on his Eagle GT 66 7 string guitar and Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier
Recently I had the opportunity to speak with Rodrigo Hidalgo, guitarist for the Brazilian progressive metal band, MindFlow. The group has toured the world and has released four full-length albums, including their newest, With Bare Hands. Here’s what Hidalgo had to say about the equipment he uses to gain his signature sound.

What one piece of gear do you use to obtain your signature sound?
Rodrigo: I use my Eagle GT 66 7 string guitar and the Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier.
What about it makes it so important to you?
Rodrigo: I love the tone of that guitar, very consistent and sustained sound. I really dig the bottom end of the rectifiers. A great guitar/amp combination.
What are the major pros and cons?
Rodrigo: Beside the very good tone from this amp/guitar combination, they can handle touring very well. I think this is a very important aspect!
How long have you had it, how do you use it, would you ever change it?
Rodrigo: I’ve being using Eagle Guitars for about a year and now we are working on a signature guitar that will be even better. I proudly use Mesa’s products for about 4 years. I’m very happy with both of them!
Any final thoughts or comments on the gear?
Rodrigo: I like to keep my sound very raw for power chords and riffs; just the amp and a compressor. That way I can deliver a very honest and powerful sound.
