Warrant – ‘Rockoholic’ [Album Review]
As a huge fan of the ’80’s “Big Hair” bands I’m very familiar with the work of Warrant, a band that was pretty much a staple on the scene. I loved their first release Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich, but after that, for me they just never got my blood pumping; the scene was over-saturated with dime a dozen bands and their subsequent releases, even though they were hugely successful, did nothing for me.

More than 20 years later Rockaholic hit my desk and I popped it in with a bit of a lackluster attitude, expecting mediocrity at best. I have to tell you I was pleasantly surprised by what I heard. Original front man Jani Lane has been replaced by Robert Mason (of Lynch Mob fame) and the result is a terrific. Rockoholic is a really good collection of straight ahead, at times edgy rock ‘n’ roll tunes that are really enjoyable to listen to. Warrant did not reinvent the wheel here but with the addition of Mason I think they very well may have reinvented themselves. Give this one a listen, it’s pretty good.
