Recently we had the opportunity to speak with Andy Moor. Read up on a lot of interesting things you may not have known about Andy.
Hi Andy! Thanks for taking the time to speak with us! As this is your first interview with MaxMuzik, let’s start off with a little background. How did you get into music?
I started whilst I was young, learning numerous musical instruments, but was really interested in this synthesizer music that I was hearing from the likes of Jean Michelle Jarre. Eventually I got into Dance music and diverted my musical attention to learning how to produce. After producing music on rudimentary equipment whilst in my early teens I got the opportunity to gain experience in a local studio, then it all went from there.
For our readers who’ve never heard your music, explain your sound in 5 words.
Electronic Musical Emotional Groovy stuff.
Can you offer insight into some of your musical inspirations?
I get inspired by all sorts of music, and also by situations that are non music based. I’m instantly attracted to music that is deep and has meaning. I am also heavily inspired by the production of some music, good and bad production are like day and night to me, so extremely good production on any type of audio inspires me a great deal.
You released your debut album “Zero Point One” earlier this year. What was that experience like for you?
It was a great experience, maybe a touch long winded but an enjoyable project. It was nice to finally get it out there and have a fresh clean slate to start producing from once more.
What was the most challenging part of the production process of the album?
I wanted to make it hard for myself, as sometimes I work better the bigger the challenge ahead. I wanted to include many vocals from many vocalists, fill as much time on the album as possible, whilst keeping a flow and sense of cohesion. Also try to include multiple styles whilst not alienating any of the listeners, but still pushing their limits and educating at the same time.
How was your experience collaborating with other artists in this album? And who would you like to collaborate with in the near future?
It was fantastic to work with the artists on the album. They are all really easy to work with, and they all motivated me dramatically whilst working on the music. It is always a positive experience for me to work with others, vibing off them and receiving a differing opinion to my own.
If you could open up for an artist right now, who would it be and why?
Elvis Presley, so I could step on his blue suede shoes.
Speaking of shows, what are your touring plans for the rest of the year?
Once the Ibiza season is over I will be touring the album across various continents, South East Asia, North + South America and throughout Europe.
What artists would fans be surprised to find on your iPod?
I don’t think you should ever be surprised at finding “surprising” artists on peoples ipods. Being aware and a fan of multiple genre’s I see as a hobby and part of my job.
Any final thoughts or parting words?
I’d like to give a shout out to all your readers! Keep on loving the music and hope to see you soon!
