American Idol alumni Sam Barber closed his “Till I Return Tour” with two sold-out shows in Vancouver, the second at the Commodore Ballroom on May 20th. It could be considered an unconventional second show since the second venue holds twice as many people as the first one.

The opening act was carried out by singer and songwriter Kade Hoffman. The Colorado native entertained the crowd with his voice, like an old sound with a new spirit.

He had a lengthy set for an opener, with a total of 16 songs. Hoffman played a mix of his originals like “Lady Luck,” “Bonfire Blues,” “Wanderlust,” and “Hungover & Heartbroken,” plus covers of other famous artists.

Sam Barber hopped on the stage, and the crowd started rowing. He performed the first two songs, “Million Eyes” and “Man That You Raised” by himself, then brought the band out for “Drowning.” He continued with the entire band until the 14th song, “Dancing in The Sky.”

To close his regular set, he performed “Restless Mind,” accompanied by his violinist Luisa Marion. The latter is an exceptional vocalist and a perfect fit for that song. Barber carried on by himself with “Rambin Man” and “Straight & Narrow.”

He left the stage but had to return for one more song. The band came first and had instrumental solo jams for a few minutes before Sam joined them for “Till I Return.”

This set of concerts was an excellent closing to the ‘Till I Return Tour,’ and surely, the Vancouver fans left the venues satisfied and looking forward to another visit from Sam soon.
