Hot Garbage Premiere Their Modern Psychedelia “Erase My Mind” Music Video
Psych rockers Hot Garbage premiere the “Erase My Mind” music video ahead of the release of their ‘Precious Dream’ album via Mothland and EXAG Records.
The wait is over; the new Hot Garbage record, Precious Dream, arrives tomorrow, and with it comes the premiere of the “Erase My Mind” music video. (We also helped unveil the Toronto band’s last video for “Mystery” in November.) This was preceded by the October release of the album’s first single, “Snooze You Lose.”
The common thread the band has been weaving through these songs is an innovative, modern psychedelia. They strive to offer you, the listener, a cathartic and introspective listening experience. This defining factor of psychedelic music has lost its importance within modern popular music. Hot Garbage is here to make things dark and heavy, conjuring up the spirit of dark post-punk and 1970s krautrock.
Describing the song, Hot Garbage states:
“‘Erase My Mind’ is an alluring slow jam about clearing your head from unwanted thoughts. Fueled by a solemn drum loop, and featuring minimalistic guitar voicings as well as what could very well be a Casavant Frères organ run through a ten-story high Leslie cabinet, this monumental cathedral of a song promises to melt the heart of hopeless romantics and cynics alike… A psychedelic tearjerker for the ages.”
Released via Mothland and EXAG Records, Precious Dream clarifies its intentions right from song one, the aforementioned “Snooze You Lose.” The songs are moody and experimental, which was encouraged by producer Graham Walsh, whom the band previously worked with on their debut record, RIDE. Walsh wanted the band to explore the depths of their sound to tap into their potential as songwriters.
Recorded in late 2022, Precious Dream was primarily written in isolation. This offered the group an open runway to tap into the sound and themes they sought. With searing post-punk riffs, the songs delve into dread, loss, resilience, and the highs and lows of solitude. By the end of this intoxicating 36-minute listen, you’ll be hooked and no doubt impressed by Hot Garbage’s ability to take the musical influences of the past, mix them up, and turn them into their distinctive sound.

2. Look at My Phone
3. Lowering
4. Mystery
