Raised in Ojai, CA, Joseph Luca is a progressive artist and songwriter whose music examines love, vulnerability, sexual fluidity, and one’s internal sense of freedom against the will of a repressive society. For fans of Prince, Jeff Buckley, and Miguel, Joseph Luca brings sensual and vulnerable narratives with Pop sensibility to Alternative Soul. Having headlined and sold out the Troubadour, performing with Mike Posner and Haley Reinhart, all the way to performing with Mak J at EDC, Joseph Luca’s stage presence and energy is electric and leaves his fans feeling euphoric and free.

On November 10th, Joseph Luca unveiled the first new EP in his upcoming three-part EP series. PART 1: Ouroboros (Life) is out now via ONErpm.

As a follow-up to previous singles, “Nowhere” and “Full Time Lover,” he  shares an official audio video for “Green Lights.” With this song, he reminds himself and his listeners of the danger found in moving too quickly in a new relationship.

As Luca himself wrote of the track:

“‘Green Lights’ is a song about how dangerous it can be to rush through the excitement of new love. To meet someone who you truly connect with on a deep level is a miraculous gift. This should not be taken for granted. The song begs two new lovers to take their time through the gift of romantic alignment. ‘Green Lights’ only appear when the time’s right, five miles per hour’ll do just fine.”

The full-length PART 1: Ouroboros (Life) examines the full evolution of an individual coming into their full power. Also, their acceptance of pansexuality and living their life as their truest self through a metaphorical shedding/cycle of “life, death, and rebirth.”

It encapsulates the progression of an individual who’s had to find the power within sexual fluidity regardless of all the ups and downs it may come with in everyday life. Regardless of the setbacks, he always find the courage it takes to go out in the world and fearlessly pursue love at whatever cost. This comes despite all the barriers set in place by society and its often-repressive nature.

This world has a way of casting an illusion that we all must fit in or suffer in silence while offering us hierarchical labels that come with its own set of predetermined privileges and consequences. Joseph Luca’s music is here to encourage the idea that to refuse this offer and to transcend these bounds reveals the universal nature of love itself. We are all simply here to have a human experience.

Luca self-wrote and produced the entirety of his first EP. The only exceptions are “Green Lights” and “Cupid Played Pretend,” which were produced by Alex Casnoff (Zella Day). The EP was also mixed and mastered by Steve Dresser (Gwen Stefani, Kim Petras, Noah Cyrus, Fergie, Lauv).

Stay tuned for the other parts of this three-part series, coming soon.
