The Barnum Meserve Return with Haunting, Cinematic Single/Video “Gaslight”
Nottingham, UK-based trio, The Barnum Meserve return with their new single and music video, “Gaslight,” their first new music since 2017’s ‘When All Is Lost’ album.
Nottingham, UK-based trio, The Barnum Meserve—musicians Leon Wiley (piano, vox), Dylan Griffiths (bass), and Paul Moss-Pearce (drums)—return with their new single and music video, “Gaslight,” their first new music since 2017’s When All Is Lost album. Fans of the band will also notice a new sound, one which pulls from film scores and more cinematic elements.
Commenting on the song’s lyrical content, frontman Leon Wiley states:
“It’s about manipulation making someone feel like they’re going insane but also making people question themselves whether it’s them or yourself who is the problem. I’ve been in relationships in the past where I’ve been in that situation and it’s a nasty place to be. I thought it was a great idea to write about as it can be a dark subject matter, to be manipulated by those around you who you love and ultimately trust.”
Speaking about the single’s accompanying music video, Director Fraser Wests shares:
“‘Gaslight’ is a video looking into isolation and the mind games that play out in our everyday mundane lives. We go on a journey into darkness, fuelled by fear and an alto ego that cannot be shaken. The video is a cinematic psychological horror.”
