The LA-based electronic rock act, The Anix is back with new music! The one-man project from composer and producer Brandon Smith has debuted the new single “Fight The Future”, which drops on April 6th via Detroit’s independent label FiXT. More info can be read in a sec, but first head below to stream the new single and/or hear it via Bandcamp or Spotify.
The Anix sees Smith take his fondness of sci-fi, anime and comics and artfully blend them with sweet synths, electronic sounds and tons of other rock-heavy elements. The new single follows the musical project’s fifth studio recording, 2017’s Ephemeral, which was issued via Cleopatra Records. Expect a new full-length to come later this year!
We asked Brandon Smith for some personal thoughts on the single and this is what he left us with:
“‘Fight The Future’ marks the return to The Anix’s rock/electronic roots that I started with and a new found enthusiasm for creating a futuristic vision for this genre. In the past I experimented with an ‘80s influence, but am now pulling inspiration from the electronic scene of the ‘90s and warping it into a sound that I feel would fit in 30 years from now. I have always been inspired by chaos and try to capture that in the recording process to give a raw grittiness to the electronics, and use big distorted bass tones to lift and break the chorus loose.”
