The Wombats – “Turn” [Song Review]
“Turn”, the latest single from Liverpudlian indie rockers The Wombats, is a catchy, light-hearted tribute to a crazy girl.
“Turn”, the latest single from Liverpudlian indie rockers The Wombats, is a catchy, light-hearted tribute to a crazy girl (what other kind is there in their music?).
It follows the style adopted by their last full-length album, 2015’s Glitterbug, that saw the band distancing themselves from their post-punk roots to take on a more indie-pop vibe. Quirky comparisons like “I like the way you try to run with the wolfpack when your legs are tired” and “I wanna get college-girl drunk tonight” make it fun to sing along to, and maintain The Wombats’ signature lyrical style.
Existing fans will enjoy it, and the continued pop overtones might be enough to attract some new fans too. Although it doesn’t feel like a departure from their existing work, it’s still a fun tune that reminds listeners of the carefree days of summer.
Run Time: 3:28
Release Date: December 6, 2017
