Boxer/Eyes Wide – “Split EP” [EP] [SoundCloud Album Stream]
This past Fall, Richmond, Virginia’s Boxer teamed up with Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s Eyes Wide to record a split EP. They enlisted the help of Will Yip of Studio 4 (Title Fight, The Wonder Years, Balance & Composure) for recording and the end result is a mind melting mix of melodic hardcore and ’90s alternative rock. This marks the second release from Boxer after debuting their EP Undertow on Reveille Records in 2012 and the first batch of new material from Eyes Wide since 2011. The album ranges from moody angst ridden jams like Boxer’s “Weight” to the gloomy passion of Eyes Wide’s “Gem.” Each band is showcasing three new songs which represents the current direction that both bands are embarking on.
