Kid Liberty – “Fight With Your Fists”

I’ve listened to this CD a few times trying to figure out what the best way to explain it is, and all I can really come up with is that it’s lots of fun. I don’t tend to listen to a lot of hardcore; I tend to find a lot of it sounds too much alike.

I’ve listened to this CD a few times trying to figure out what the best way to explain it is, and all I can really come up with is that it’s lots of fun. I don’t tend to listen to a lot of hardcore; I tend to find a lot of it sounds too much alike.

That being said, I never go more than a few days without blasting some Shook Ones, or Modern Life Is War at unreasonable, neighbour annoying volumes, and have a really good time raging alone in my apartment.

Fight With Your Fists is the kind of album I could see myself doing that with. The vocals swing between sung and screamed really well – aside from a few weird computer generated stutters that just seem kind of… weird – and the songs are fast and heavy while still having some solid melodic elements.

There’s definitely a pop edge to this CD, and I think that is one of it’s strengths, I feel like I would have loved this band when I was first getting into punk when I was younger. There’s something to be said for a band that can get kids interested in less mainstream, awesome music.

At it’s best this CD is a hell of a lot of fun to listen to, songs like “Fight With Your Fists” and “This Is A Stick Up!” especially. I think that anyone who likes hardcore or screamo a lot will be able to find a lot to like about this CD, and it’s definitely worth checking out.  [ END ]
