R&B/soul artist DMGD, pronounced letter by letter, released his single “SIX SHOTS 2023” last June, which, although it collected over 240,000 streams on Spotify, didn’t receive the attention it deserved.
Originally from New York and now based in Napa, California, DMGD does it all: creates, writes, records, and handles every aspect of his career. His sound merges savors of late ’90s R&B with the voluptuous flow of ’70s soul. At the present juncture, the artist is working on his debut EP.
DMGD’s most recent releases, “Bubblegum,” “SIX SHOTS 2023,” “In My Veins,” and “Risk Prevention,” have achieved notable success with well over three-quarters of a million streams. Along with being featured on elite media outlets, his music has received airplay in Europe and the Middle East and rotation on Dash Radio.
Simmering, bubbling synths introduce “SIX SHOTS 2023,” flowing into an oozing, creamy R&B melody topped by DMGD’s lusciously expressive vocals. Vaguely reminiscent of Baby Face, there’s a soulful ache, a yearning surface to DMGD’s voice that reflects that inner passion most people experience but can’t articulate.
Drenched in emotional sensitivity, DMGD embraces the deep feelings of life, releasing them through the sensualism of R&B.
