JUNO Award-nominated alternative artist Ruby Waters is set to release her first full-length album, What’s The Point, on May 31st. To celebrate the release, Waters has also announced a headlining show at Danforth Music Hall in Toronto on May 30th.

Waters dives deep introspectively on What’s The Point and has put together a collection of songs that are the most authentically her and explores themes of acceptance, love, sadness, sex, and more. Written over the past year and a half, Waters rented a cabin and built a studio with some pals. The cabin is a special place for Waters and has been the birthplace of other songs she’s written, such as the previously released “Harder” (2022) and “Open Arms” (2022). Recorded in Whistler, Squamish, and Toronto, the album was produced by Sam Willows (The Beaches, MICO and previous bodies of Waters’ work), with tracks produced by Harper, TJ Whitlaw, and Mido.

Waters shares:

“This album was mostly written in a cabin just off the Sea to Sky highway. It is about coming to terms with never knowing the real meaning of life while accepting all the ups and downs that come with it. Being angry. Being happy. Being thankful. Moving on. Remembering. Letting go. All of it!”

In addition to the Toronto show, Waters has headlining dates in Portland, Seattle, and Subaru Winterfest in Bend, Oregon this month. She is headed to Europe for a headlining tour and festival dates in June. Full list of tour dates below.

Her mellow manner is entirely disarming and comforting in the best way possible, Ruby Waters is a powerful artistic force set on a path that is wholly her own creation. Ruby’s music is an extension of her truest self—good times, good friends, and honest storytelling. Add in a few cases of beer, some nostalgic riffs, and cutting lyrics and you begin to see the picture clearly.

As an independent artist, Ruby has amassed over 50 million streams, with her singles and two EPs, Almost Naked (2019) and If It Comes Down To It (2020), as well as a JUNO Award nomination for ‘Alternative Artist of the Year’ in 2022. Touring is where Ruby thrives, having previously sold-out headline shows across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and the UK. Looking ahead to 2024, Ruby Waters is poised to captivate fans with the anticipation of a full-length debut and headline tours to follow, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
