Owen Hamlin Releases His Sophomore Effort ‘Saint Augustine’
Singer-songwriter Owen Hamlin has released his new album, Saint Augustine. Saint Augustine is Hamlin’s second studio album release, following up his 2022 debut album Right As Rain.
Saint Augustine has been described by music journalists as containing “abstract-yet-relatable lines,” “effortlessly memorable melody,” and ”Owen’s vocals are packed with emotion.”
Hamlin commenting on his new album:
“I always thought that by the time these songs came out, I’d be at the Grammy’s or something. My invitation must have gotten lost in the mail.”
“In support of Saint Augustine, Hamlin has released a new music video for the final song on the album titled ‘Hey There Jennifer.” He has also released a live performance video with songs from Saint Augustine – see below.
Saint Augustine is Owen Hamlin’s second studio album release; however, it was originally supposed to be his debut album.
Discussing the recording process, he states:
“I was working with an engineer I knew who had a fantastic recording studio built in his garage. We had an agreement allowing me to record my full album there. As time went by in the recording process it became more and more apparent that the time I had to work on the record per week wasn’t enough, and all the time in between was killing me.
“Eventually after months and months of perseverance we reached the end of recording. I came to realize that even after spending nearly a year grinding to record the album, it wasn’t the record I intended to make. In the end I decided to hold the album back. Due to a love of the songs and a commitment to finishing them I re-recorded the entire album. That album is Saint Augustine.”
