Mascots Release Powerfully Engaging Pop Punk Single “Slipping in the Dark”

Mascots have released their latest single, “Slipping in the Dark.” The song is a perfect blend of classic and modern emo/pop-punk that will take you back to your favourite records while keeping you in the now.
Commenting on “Slipping in the Dark,” the band states:
“The song is about becoming vulnerable enough with yourself and your surroundings to embrace the challenge of change and instability. That we sometimes find ourselves slipping back into our old ways, slipping into these dark and negative habits, mindsets, and lifestyles that not only affect ourselves but also those around us. It’s not until we lower our guard and seek help, that we can rise up from the personal poisons that shroud us.”
Coming together in the fall of 2014, Mascots started as a passion project among five friends in the suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio. Combining catchy hooks, roaring guitars, and pop anthemic elements, Mascots have forged numerous musical works such as their 2017 EP, The Good In Me, 2017’s duo; Time To Time, 2018’s Butterfly Effect, and their latest singles “Figure It Out” and “Twenty Two.” They were all recorded and produced by their dear friend, Seth Henderson, at Always Be Genius Recording Studio (responsible for records by bands like State Champs, Real Friends, and Knuckle Puck).
Amongst many ups and downs, lineup changes, and a global pandemic, Mascots have been able to survive and thrive through their endeavours to play shows and forever mould their craft. 2024 sees Mascots at their boldest and most innovative with their current lineup: Jakob Fox, Robert Coyle, Alex Stewart, and Chase Nichols. Together, they have concocted not only a new blend of sound, conjured by a mix of influences and genres but also a new goal of becoming a staple in their scene. Keep your ears open and eyes locked on Mascots this year, as they are bound to sweep you off your feet.
