Monolithically heavy UK doomgaze quartet Sugar Horse has signed with Pelagic Records and also announced a February 2024 tour supporting labelmates LLNN. The news follows the release of the Bristolians’ mighty new EP Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico (3rd November, Fat Dracula Records/distributed by Metal Blade Records in the US).
An epic achievement, Truth… is, in signature Sugar Horse style, one single long song: a meditation and exploration of everything the note A has to offer.
The band comment on the new single:
“This section kind of feels like stepping into the eye of a particularly lengthy storm. It’s a short reprieve where we break everything down before climbing back up that staircase again. Lyrically it describes the catharsis of art. You can take in any pain, hurt and bullshit from day to day like, then use it to generate something positive and beautiful. There’s something I find unbelievably beautiful in that kind of genesis. It’s probably the closest I come to any kind of religious thought. You take hell and turn it into heaven.”
Telling the story of Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico, the band states:
“It’s frequently been difficult for us, as a band, to limit ourselves to “normal” pop song lengths and structures….as evidenced in pretty much all of our releases to date. From time to time we feel the need to loose the ropes that bind us and let our Long & Tedious flag fly freely. Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico is the result of said untethering.
“We’ve always found the idea of exploring a single note over long stretches of time interesting and this song is that idea taken to an extreme logical conclusion. It’s an exploration of the note A in all its possible variations.”

Cassetta Release Their New Single “Give Them Nothing”
Cassetta, a metal supergroup composed of members of Suicide Silence, Scars of Tomorrow, have released their single “Give Them Nothing.”
Brace yourselves for the sonic onslaught from Cassetta, a greater Los Angeles hardcore group that has released their latest sonic juggernaut, “Give Them Nothing.” This blistering single has permeated streaming services, hitting platforms including Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, and all major DSPs.
Drawing from the deepest, most primal recesses of musical intensity, Cassetta masterfully melds influences from past and present hardcore/metal favourites, forging a relentless, bone-crushing wall of sound that will leave listeners breathless. The accompanying live performance video of “Give Them Nothing” is slated for release on the band’s official YouTube channel in the coming weeks.
“Give Them Nothing” stands as a testament to the band’s uncompromising vision, self-produced and mixed by Jeff Dunne, known for his work with heavyweights such as Knocked Loose, Make Them Suffer, Veil Of Maya, and Emmure. Cassetta’s ethos is one of raw power, eschewing frills in favour of unadulterated hardcore energy, with vocalist Conor Eaton’s introspective lyrics guiding listeners through a dark, deeply personal journey.
Comprised of vocalist Conor Eaton (The Keeper), guitarist/songwriter Kevin Fifield (Pressure Cracks/Scars of Tomorrow), Marc Motley (The Arson Choir), Bob Bradley (Fake Figures/Scars of Tomorrow), and Alex Lopez (Suicide Silence), Cassetta is a powerhouse collective poised to dominate the hardcore scene.
In addition to the forthcoming single, Cassetta has also unveiled a limited edition two-song cassette featuring their previous hits, “Swallow the Sun” and “Thin Blue Crime.” This exclusive cassette, accompanied by enamel pins and two distinct shirt designs, is available now via the band’s official Bandcamp store.
Bullet for My Valentine & Trivium Reveal “The Poisoned Ascendancy” UK Tour
Following much speculation online, Bullet for My Valentine and Trivium have revealed details of a huge, joint arena tour.
Following much speculation online, Bullet for my Valentine and Trivium have revealed details of a huge, joint arena tour at a press conference which was streamed live from London’s Sanctum Hotel. The Poisoned Ascendancy UK Tour 2025 will see both bands celebrating the 20th anniversary of these respective iconic albums, playing them in full.
Bullet for my Valentine frontman Matt Tuck says:
“I honestly can’t believe it’s been 20 years since the release of The Poison, and what an incredible 20 years it’s been. I feel so proud of what we’ve achieved as a band in the last two decades and it all started with that debut album. The Poison is such an important part of our lives musically and personally and we know the massive impact it had on the metal world on a global level. This tour will be made even more special as our brothers in Trivium are also joining us on the road to celebrate and play in its entirety their stunning album Ascendancy.”
Matt Heafy of Trivium adds:
“Bullet For My Valentine’s The Poison and Trivium’s Ascendancy are two records whose influence can be heard to this day – in the DNA of modern metal. It’s incredible to think of the impact the albums had when they came out in 2005. They were both like bolts of lightning. Both bands grew up independently of each other in different countries and separately from any movement or scene but both shared a common love of melodic heavy metal at the core; and both had similar meteoric rises right out of the gate.
Trivium and BFMV were in such whirlwinds when our respective albums came out that we each never truly got to play together or sit back and celebrate during the maelstrom of constant touring, recording and globetrotting. But that’s what this anniversary tour is. It’s a celebration by the bands to the fans of an important era, and most importantly it’s an invitation to fans come and have an epic night with us and sing and rage and celebrate the awesome power of the music.”
“This is going to be the metal tour of 2025. Bullet For My Valentine and Trivium The Poisoned Ascendancy World Tour 2025. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of both albums and playing them in their entirety. Get excited people, it’s going to be special and we can’t wait to celebrate with you all.”

The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara Return with “Mysterium Tremendum” Single/Video
The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara have released their brand new single and accompanying music video for “Mysterium Tremendum.”
The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara (TCOMAS) are proud to present their brand new single and video for “Mysterium Tremendum.” Written and recorded between December 2022 and October 2023, the new track merges metal and classical music, and contains section sections with classical piano and a full orchestra.
Andrea Papi on the new song:
“I would describe ‘Mysterium Tremendum’ as being ‘opera metal.’ It contains musical and lyrical elements that give the work a perfect combination of ‘heaviness’ that is both melancholic and brutal.”
Accompanying the new single, the duo has also delivered an animated music video for “Mysterium Tremendum,” created under their video and visual production arm, TCOMAS Studio. Set in warring Ancient Rome and Medieval Europe, the video combines traditional 2D and 3D animation with AI video technology to recreate the life story and journey of the anti-hero’s experience of the ‘mysterium tremendum.’
Daphne Ang, commenting on the orchestral sections of the new song, states:
“The song contains a large section with a full orchestra, which took a long time to compose and arrange. It was a real challenge, but it was mostly a rewarding experience, as we made it purely a TCOMAS effort.
“The song explores the concept of ‘mysterium tremendum et fascinans.’ I came across this concept in Das Heilige (The Idea of the Holy), a book by Rudolf Otto. It is the raw, enduring, and barbaric pain that pierces deep into the soul, which may then develop into something pure, beautiful, and glorious. It is the totality of the highest and lowest points of our existence.”
The new single and video provide a first glimpse into the pair’s return, arriving after two frenzied years of activity during which the duo dropped two full-length albums. Described to be one of “the most important British-based bands of the decade” (Ever Metal), their pioneering performance of poetry in heavy music has become a form of expression that has become synonymous with TCOMAS. Their debut album, Full Spectrum (released February 26th, 2021), captured the imaginations of new listeners with their blend of electronic, rock, metal and poetry performance, most notably “Love in the Time of Pestilence,” which graced several official Spotify playlists (Alternative Metal, Progressive Metal).
“Mysterium Tremendum” is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, and all major streaming platforms via Symphonic.
