American progressive metal giants Shadow Gallery are premiering their new video for “Gold Dust” (in its radio edit version) today on the InsideOut Music Youtube channel. The song comes from their new album ‘Digital Ghosts’, released October 26th, 2009 via InsideOutMusic in Europe, which features the line-up of Brendt Allman, Carl Cadden-James, Gary Wehrkamp, Joe Nevolo and new addition Brian Ashland. The album shows the group focus their powerful energies on creating a seamless blend of progressive, metal, and symphonic rock. The clip includes both live and location footage and features a cameo by Will Smith Sr. father of movie actor Will Smith. The video, which was filmed by Rick Berk and directed by Shadow Gallery bassist Carl Cadden-James, marked an ambitious step into exciting uncharted waters for the band and can be viewed below.
“We are very excited about having done this and are genuinely pleased with the results. We were surrounded by extremely talented people during production and had a blast doing it”, states Cadden-James. “The song ‘Gold Dust’ was the perfect vehicle for our first video and I think it’s nice to be able to introduce Brian as a vocalist visually beyond his vocal performance on the CD”.
The lyrical story is played out by model Heather Anthony and displays a very human side of the band that explores the emotional complexities of both desire and heartache and should resonate with almost anyone who has ever loved. Shadow Gallery has transitioned very comfortably from just an aural experience to the visual artistic expression that their music is so well suited.
This news comes on top of their announcement that Shadow Gallery will be performing live in concert on the 2010 Triton Power Cruise. It will be the first live performance for the band, where they will join the stage with Evergrey, Jon Oliva’s Pain and many more from April 30th – May 3rd, 2010. You can check out more information on the cruise here: www.tritonpowercruise.com.
