When a band like Moonspell plays it brings an eclectic mix of metal heads to a show. Not your traditional young moshers or crowd surfers were present as the Portuguese metal heads took center stage at the Gramercy Theater in NY. Opening for them were Atrocity and the Norway symphonic metal band Leaves’ Eyes (essentially Atrocity with lead singer Liv Kristine who’s been with the band since 2003). Liv Kristine’s ethereal vocals sounded amazing along side the crushing sound of heavy double base drums. Leaves’ Eyes were out in support of their 2013 release Symphonies of the Night.
The Riot Before played an outstanding set in Ottawa on July 29th. Playing a full band set and finishing with a raw, acoustic version of “Backstage Room” made for a performance that more than blew away the crowd. Images snagged on a Nikon D90, 50mm f/1.8.
