Canadian rock artist Grant Boyer’s debut single to radio, “Alarm Bells,” hit #37 on Canada’s Active Rock radio chart upon release last August. Now, he’s sharing his first solo EP of the same name. Produced by Braeden Kozy, each song on Alarm Bells brings its own story to the table.

“As We Wait,” the EP’s latest single, comes from a memory Grant has with his daughter when she was a toddler in her high chair. Singing nonsense and dancing around to make her laugh, he began to hum what is now the chorus melody of “As We Wait.”

Recalling that moment, Boyer comments:

“I remember I was in the kitchen with my daughter, when she was around 2. She sat in her high chair eating lunch, and I began singing ridiculous nonsense, dancing around to make her laugh. I started humming what is now the melody to the chorus to the focus track ‘As We Wait.’ That’s where the melody started. I’m not sure where the lyrics came from. I just kind of spit them out onto the paper. They rhymed. Now after performing, recording, and living with the song for some time, there are all kinds of different feelings and places that it takes me to.”
