Socio-political hip-hop group, Public Enemy has confirmed the upcoming release of their new album, What You Gonna Do When The Grid Goes Down. Due out on September 25th via Def Jam Recordings (their first for the label in twenty years) the news is accompanied by a remix of the band’s iconic single, “Fight The Power.” Titled “Fight The Power: 2020 Remix,” the track is the new album’s lead single, and in June opened the 2020 BET Awards featuring Nas, Rapsody, Black Thought, YG, Jahi and Questlove.

Chuck D comments: “Cultural Institutions are important. Being an integral part of one is an honor bestowed and to uphold. Public Enemy songs are forever sonic prints in the sands of time. And it’s time – it’s necessary – to bring the noise again from a place called home. Def Jam. Fight The Power 2020.”

Flavor Flav adds, “Def Jam is like the house we grew up in. It’s cool to be home.”

Recently, Public Enemy also dropped a new single aimed at U.S. President Donald Trump and his administration. The DJ Premier-produced song, “State of the Union (STFU),” is now available as a free download from the band’s website, and can be found on all major digital providers.
