What’s more metal than a band using its metal powers to save rainforests? Not much, if you ask me. Well, I guess it is good that Savage Lands is here to be that “metal superhero” with their new track “Black Rock Heart.” With the help of Heilung’s chief of ceremonies, Kai Uwe Faust, and visionary artist Chloé Trujillo, the band is here to show the world the unfortunate side effects of deforestation.

The track screams metal with duelling eerie and “in-your-face” vocals, a steady amount of riffage, and some pristine and crisp drumming. When speaking on the song, guitarist Sylvain Demercastel states, “We wanted this song to reflect our mounting frustration with the way the real estate heat wave is destroying Costa Rica’s ecosystem.”

The entire track is a nonstop expression of metal and the goal of the band being admirable is just the cherry on this metal sundae. Just listening to “Black Rock Heart” helps support Savage Lands. 100% of the song’s royalties fund the musician-run non-profit’s preservation efforts in Costa Rica. Donations can also be made right here.
