Snowta NYE Festival: Day 2 (w/ Post Malone, Prof, Excision) @ Minneapolis Convention Center on Dec. 31, 2017 [Photos & Recap]

Day 2 began just as cold as Day 1 with an outdoor temp of -6 degrees, but the sold-out venue was the perfect temp. Beginning the party was Post Malone who had three NYE performances scheduled in the U.S. with the first being at Snowta. Walking on stage with two Bud Light’s in his hands and immediately chugging one like he was at a frat party, Post Malone began his performance of “Too Young” by remembering friend’s Lil Peep and A$AP Yams while drinking his second beer in dedication. He then followed with crowd favorite “I Fall Apart” and other hits from his debut 2017 album Stoney.

Hometown favorite PROF took the stage after Post Malone and had the most energy of any performer I have seen in a long time – he was jumping around stage, jumping off stage, and jumping from amp to amp in the photo pit. Confetti fell as PROF began his performance and threw water onto the crowd which earned a joking “quit wasting water!” from someone behind me. One of my favorite tunes was “Whiskey” which was a unique track reminiscent of the blues.

Later in the night was Belgian duo Ganja White Night who had many fans in the crowd that shouted their names as they came onstage and sang along to each song. Thankful for the support from their fans, the duo said they were excited to “be playing their first NYE show in the U.S.”

Other artists included rapper Mr. Organik who had the best lyrics of the night “I don’t want the beef, I just want the lettuce” and Minneapolis hip-hop group FREEWIFI who had an amazing crowd. Another local was rapper Dwynell Rowland who brought friends to create hype and even jumped the barricade a few times to perform within the crowd. Another hip-hop group with an intense stage presence and lively crowd was Ho99o9 from New Jersey.

Closing out the night and ringing in the new year was Excision who began at 11:59PM creating music for the most intense New Year countdown I have ever experienced – which lead to a balloon drop once the digital clock on stage struck twelve. This was followed by an insane light show and enough confetti for me to continue finding it in my hair the next morning. All in all, Snowta NYE Festival was an insane and one-of-a-kind experience; cementing themselves as one of the top destinations for ringing in the new year.
