Canto – “Ride Away” [EP]
If you’re looking for a change of pace, something not quite heavy and a little outside the box, then look no further than Ride Away, the newest EP from the California-based alt/rock act Canto. It is a bit mellower than my usual audio fare, but there is something about it that kept me listening for the duration.

The trio of brothers has recreated a retro ’70s sort of vibe with some modern twists that I found quite enjoyable. Catchy choruses and heavily melodic vocal lines soar over clean, at times heavily-flanged guitar parts, creating a vibe that made me want to go dig my lava lamp out of the closet. I like this release; I am not sure it’s an everyday listen for me, but when in need of a change-up, Ride Away will most likely be one of my go-to’s.
