Fans turned out in force to watch Periphery lead a four-band lineup at New York’s Irving Plaza on Feb. 12, but with the standing-room-only venue rapidly filling up once the doors opened, it was clear the audience was also lured in by the three supporting acts: Thank You Scientist, Wovenwar and Nothing More.
Lead by Periphery on their current, extensive “Juggernaut Tour”, Wovenwar warmed up an already eager crowd at The Yost Theater in Santa Ana, CA on January 23, 2015.
Phil Sgrosso, guitarist for the newly formed metal band Wovenwar, recently took a moment out of his busy touring schedule to answer some questions for the “Quick & Dirty” interview feature here at PureGrainAudio. Here is how the conversation went.
If you’re a metal fan then you’re undoubtedly aware of how Wovenwar came into existence. So, after the collapse of metalcore heavyweights As I Lay Dying due to the incarceration of vocalist Tim Lambesis, all eyes are on the core of the band to see how their new group featuring lead vocals from Oh, Sleeper’s Shane Blay shapes up. Well, having already heard the cleaner tones of lead single “All Rise”, where the band cast off their past, it’s safe to say the new album delivers on the promise the opening track hinted at.
WOVENWAR, featuring the talents of Jordan Mancino (drums), Nick Hipa (guitar), Phil Sgrosso (guitar) and Josh Gilbert (bass/vocals) of San Diego, California based metal act As I Lay Dying, and Shane Blay (vocals) of Oh, Sleeper, has just released their first single titled “All Rise” off the band’s upcoming self-titled debut. Fans can head just below to hear the full track, which is the final mastered version that will appear on the album dropping in late Summer 2014.
