Italian goth rock/metal band Lacuna Coil recently released their fifth studio album, Shallow Life and have started to see success with “Spellbound,” the first single from the album. Shallow Life has proven thus far to be their most successful record in the States to date, reaching number 16 on the Billboard 200 chart. I recently had the chance to speak…

Okay, so a lot of people are funny, a lot of people like metal, and a lot of people can play the guitar, so why is it that very few people have combined all three and hand the success of Psychostick? The five piece comedic metal band from Arizona released their third album, Sandwich earlier this month to the delight of college…

On October 15, 2008 Matt Murphy spoke with Soilent Green lead singer Ben Falgoust in the basement of the Babylon night club in Ottawa, Ontario. They talked about the band’s most recent record, Inevitable Collapse in the Presence of Conviction, and Ben’s experience with Hurricane Katrina devastating his home town of New Orleans. Sit back and enjoy the show.

California Hybrid rockers The Hollywood Undead have been extremely busy with the release of their newest album Swan Song. The combination of Rap and Metal has proven successful over the last decade or so, and with the band’s hot new mix of genres they are hoping to capitalize on the trend with a great sounding record.

Without a doubt, one of the most engaging, interesting and funny musicians I’ve ever had the pleasure of speaking to is Richard Patrick of Filter. Richard brought back Filter earlier this year after a five year hiatus while he worked on other musical endeavors and also battled some personal demons. So far, Anthems For The Damned has been very well received and the band has enjoyed some very solid…

I can usually contain myself when I hear about what band I’ll be going to see. But I might as well have been dressed in a kilt because I became a giddy little school girl when I heard the words “Agnostic Front”. On Sunday, November 16th, 2008 I met up with vocalist Roger Miret outside the Kathedral in downtown Toronto; and before I got battered an bruised in the mosh pit, we conversed briefly about the hardcore lifestyle, the hardcore scene and their 2007 release Warriors.

On October 17th at the Babylon Night club in Ottawa, Ontario, Karl Schubach the lead singer of Misery Signals and I got together to chill and talk about their most recent album Controller, their video for “A Certain Death”, their collaboration with Fall out Boy and much more. This band has been around for years building their way up through the hardcore underground scene through relentless touring and releasing amazing albums that has defined their melodic hardcore contrast. Misery signals actually ran into a bit of trouble getting to the Ottawa show. Their trailer broke down and they had to spend $4000 to buy a new one so thy could make the show and my interview. Just wanted to say thanks boys.

On October 17th at Zaphod’s Beeblebrox club in Ottawa, Ontario, I got to chill with Justin Dube (vocals, guitar) and Casey Shea (guitar, vocals) of the rock band Everlea. Their combination of catchy melody and indie rock is something not to be missed. These guys are super chill, so much in fact that when I asked to do an interview on the spot, they were down. Their Self-Titled album has been released through Glassnotes Records this past September and is causing a stir.
