Veil of Maya

On the night of October 6, 2017 two tours converged upon the freshly renovated Palladium in Worcester, MA, the Headspace Tour headlined by Issues, with support from Volumes, Too Close to Touch, and Sylar, and the No Sun No Moon Tourheadlined by The Devil Wears Prada, with support from Veil of Maya, Silent Planet, and Thousand Below.

Veil Of Maya is known for being in their own category of unique, highly technical and gut-wrenchingly heavy metal. They took their talents on the road this Summer as part of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival where they’ve been blowing the minds of new and longstanding fans across the United States. Recently, on August 2nd, I was lucky enough to catch up with Veil Of Maya’s vocalist Brandon Butler and guitarist Marc Okubo at Mayhem Festival in Scranton, PA. After tearing it up on the Sumerian Stage, these progressive deathcore giants took the time to talk with me about what’s next for the band, swap some crazy stories and even share a secret or two.

Chicago-based Veil of Maya are extremely proud to announce their re-signing to Sumerian Records, the label which the band has been a part of since their inception. This comes on the heels of the group releasing the brand new, blistering track, “Subject Zero,” which can be accessed below. Don’t miss Veil Of Maya on their North American Fall tour starting November 8th with Structures, Northlane, Vildhjarta, and Here Comes The Kraken.

Episode Summary: ALLOY co-host Matt Jacobs went up to Portland for the Oregon stop of the Summer Slaughter Tour. I grabbed a fake band badge and just walked in the back gate. I originally only had an interview scheduled with Cephalic Carnage, but took the opportunity to talk to Marc Ocubo of Veil of Maya on their tour bus… yeah… I was on Veil of Maya’s tour bus… you’re jealous.
