Toronto-based alternative/industrial rock band The Rabid Whole have been going strong since 2007. Comprised of five solid local musicians including Andreas Weiss (vocals, guitars), Chalsey Noelle (keys, backing vocals), George Radutu (guitar), Oscar Anesetti (bass), and JJ Tartaglia (drums), The Rabid Whole have crept into the local scene and grabbed hold of 1000s of fans. With an entertaining live show and solid music to boot, it’s no wonder this band keeps amassing more positive press. Here’s what front man Andreas Weiss had to say about the newest album Refuge.

Given the success of the last download we hosted for the song, “Future”, we at PureGrainAudio are stoked to again team up with The Rabid Whole and this time offer a free grab of their song “Delusion”. It comes off the group’s newest album Refuge, which came out on May 1st, 2012 via Boonsdale Records. The album was recorded and produced by Karl Schubach (Misery Signals, Solace), mixed by Dave Ogilvie (Jakalope, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson) and mastered by Noah Mintz (Broken Social Scene, Death From Above 1979).

It’s been a while since I’ve heard an industrial/electronic band release a record that caught my attention and in all honesty, this is a scene that became inundated with mediocre, formulaic bands who mucked up the genre’s gene pool. Well I’m glad to say that the latest disc from Rabid Whole, Refuge, is a virtual light in the dark that is the industrial/electronic mire. This is a good, classic-sounding industrial release complete with aggressive and abrasive sounds set to a background of heavy, driving grooves topped by an ethereal female vocal track that really sets things apart. If NIN, Jakalope or even Stabbing Westward are your thing, than this is an album you won’t want to miss!

If you’re one of the fortunate people who attended The Rabid Whole’s CD release party at the Bovine in Toronto, Canada last night, then you’ve already experience this awesome new album. If you missed the show, then we have a super treat for you in the form of this exclusive world premiere of the band’s latest album Refuge, due out May 1st, 2012 via Boonsdale Records. Recorded and produced by Karl Schubach (Misery Signals, Solace), mixed by Dave Ogilvie (Jakalope, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson) and mastered by Noah Mintz (Broken Social Scene, Death From Above 1979), Refuge is one industrial metal/alternative rock album you won’t want to miss!
