On the ‘Prepare For Hell’ tour, Slipknot showed why they have become one of the biggest heavy metal bands on the planet. Check out some of our photos from the Nottingham show on their recent UK tour.
The most anticipated heavy metal tour of the last few years rolls into Nottingham with headliners Slipknot living up to the fearsome live reputation they’ve built up over the last sixteen years.
There is a lot of fuel left in the Slipknot tank. They are heavyweights in the metal game. The sound, set list, stage production, and performance they gave on closing night was in-fucking-credible.
Since their 2008 All Hope is Gone album, Slipknot had experienced the kind of setbacks that would destroy a weaker band. The death of bassist and founding member Paul Gray in 2010, and then the departure of drummer Joey Jordison last year, became the grist for .5: The Gray Chapter. As Slipknot’s first studio release in six years, the band took the pain and made it their ally.
Global rock juggernauts, Slipknot, have announced the next phase of their uncompromising history – the release of ‘.5: The Gray Chapter’ – the fifth studio album from the GRAMMY®-winning group – arrives on October 21ST, while their North American “Prepare For Hell” tour is set to kick off immediately following the band’s previously announced Knotfest (October 24-26th). Check out a stream of the brand new song, “The Devil in I”.
After a few aborted attempts, PureGrainAudio finally got Scar The Martyr/Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison on the phone at his home in Iowa right before he headed out on the road with Scar The Martyr on a U.S. tour opening for both Korn and Rob Zombie. Clearly excited by his new band, Joey talked about touring, his band members and, of course, the next Slipknot record.
Despite last year’s horrendous weather causing all sorts of problems for Download organizers and weather reports ranging from pouring rain to thirty degree heat this year, it didn’t stop eighty thousand rock fans from descending on Donington Park for the annual rock extravaganza.
Heavy TO 2012 brought back Slipknot, and Toronto was more than ready to welcome them. We got to a chance to speak with the ever so outspoken Shawn “Clown” Crahan before their show. Our new interviewer Julie got Clown to open up about the passing of their co-founder and bass player, the arrest of their Lamb of God friend, Knotfest, and so much more. We learn much more about his other projects, and life on the road these days. A candid interview with honest moments from a talented and masked Grammy winner.
Rock reporter, Mitch Lafon, recently caught up with Slipknot’s Shawn “Clown” Crahan backstage at Heavy MTL (August 12, 2012) to discuss the band’s upcoming Knotfest concert event as well as Iowa, Shawn’s production company and more more.
Slipknot headlined the second night of this year’s Heavy MTL festival. The band delivered a much expected, high-energy show and even though it was my fourth or fifth time seeing them, they never cease to amaze.
“Hesitate” is a fine song for what it is, but it’s just a little disappointing that Taylor and Stone Sour don’t try a little harder in the originality department.
On April 16th, in Toronto, Canada, Metal Monsters Slipknot dug in and played a ridiculously amazing set incorporating a seizure-inducing light show and a crisp sound unlike that heard in larger arenas. Obviously this band needs no introduction and as such we’ll simply say this… While Trivium tore up the stage and hyped the crowd for the aforementioned music juggernauts, we managed to grad Slipknot DJ and member #0 (aka Sid Wilson) in a relatively sound-proofed room for a quick interview. In full gear and with his remote controlled mask buzzing and whirring, PureGrainAudio asked questions pertaining to touring, their new wardrobe and more about the force that is the ‘Knot.
