Lordi brought their heavy metal mayhem to the UK recently and our photographer was on hand to bring you these shots from their show in Reading.
Earlier this year Within Temptation was voted “Best Live Band” at the Metal Hammer Awards, and if you have ever been to a Within Temptation show it is easy to see why! Within Temptation brings some serious game when it comes to their live performance. They really go out of their way to make the night special for adoring fans. Vocalist Sharon den Abel mentioned they brought more gear then ever before to the United States in order to give fans the best show of their lives. Within Temptation hit the road with Amaranthe to promote their 6th studio album, Hydra. We had a chance to see their epic set in September at the famous Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, CA.
Despite the departure of their vocalist prior to the tour, UK hardcore boys Brutality Will Prevail kicked up a storm in Reading as they opened for Canadian maulers Cancer Bats with their brutish hardcore certainly working the crowd and the security into a sweat ready for the headliners.
For metal-loving Southern Californians, The Battle of San Bernardino was this Summer’s hottest event. On a lucky Friday the 13th (August), seven heavy bands, Warbringer, Overkill, Sabaton, Testament, Anthrax, Megadeth, and headliner Iron Maiden performed at a venue well-known for its big outdoor festivals. Testament and Anthrax played extraordinary sets, Megadeth shined, but it was the headliner, Iron Maiden, that blew minds. A killer set highlighting the ‘Seventh Son of a Seventh Son’ album, it was classic Maiden, playing in top form.
While Yukon Blonde performed at Ottawa’s 2011 Bluesfest, they returned to do something a little different this year, being performing at Ottawa’s 2012 Folk Fest! No matter where they play, they always draw a huge crowd and give a stellar performance (they are even returning once more this year to perform alongside The Sheepdogs as part of a massive Canadian tour in November). One thing is clear – Ottawa loves Yukon Blonde!
Patrick Watson blew the crowd away with an incredible performance at this year’s Ottawa Folk Festival. His set included an incredible light show and the entire set was full of energy and soul. Many were there to see him play that night and it was clear that everyone was excited about this particular performance!
If anyone knows how to get a party started, it’s without a doubt Canada’s very own Great Big Sea! They performed a ton of their more popular songs which was a brilliant way of getting the audience to sing, dance and drink along! There was definitely a lot of foot stomping and hand clapping and this show! What a fun performance!
If any band knows how to put on a show and start a party, it’s without a doubt Down With Webster. They performed one of the most energetic and intense sets of Bluesfest 2012, and the crowd was just as wild. A great time was had by all during their performance that’s for sure!
Ottawa was honoured to have one of the biggest punk rock bands of our time, Bad Religion, headline the main stage on July 11th. They performed to an audience that was full of fans both old and new, and they definitly put on an incredible show. It was one to remember!
