Mushroomhead, the influential industrial metal band from Cleveland, OHio has just released its seventh studio album The Righteous & The Butterfly. Recorded in Cleveland, the band self produced the record with longtime co-producer Bill Korecky. The CD consists of 14 tracks, ranging from songs about survival and balance (“Devils Be Damned”, “Qwerty”, “Son Of 7”) to emotionally charged anthems (“For Your Pleasure,” “Worlds Collide”) to a riff heavy rendition of Adele’s #1 hit “Rumor Has It.” The first single “Out Of My Mind” is now available for streaming!
The French industrial metal act JENX is preparing to release Drift, a revamped and remixed version of their critically acclaimed 2012 record Enuma Elish, from which six tracks were selected and have been totally deconstructed and rebuilt by the band’s keyboardist Lyynk into what I can best describe as a tapestry of widely varied sounds and beats that are reminiscent of NIN meets Depeche Mode meets Ministry.
An audio snippet for the new Fear Factory album’s lead single, “Recharger,” is now available below; the single is available via iTunes, Amazon and other online retailers beginning April 24th.
We recently had the good fortune to speak with Ministry front man Al Jourgensen about the new record, his health and his career. Here is how it went.
In 2011 the horror inspired Dawn Of Ashes, invited fans to decide on two tracks for the band to re-recorded. The fans spoke out and helped to choose both “Carnal Consummation In The Empty Space” and “Seething The Flesh In The River Ov Phlegethon”. In 2012 DOA released their digital-only EP Farewell To The Flesh which held remixes of these two songs; mixed by Falling Skies, Die Sektor, To Mega Therion, The Juggernaut and the groups very own K. Bathory. The five tracks each have a gothic industrial/electronic sound to them, mixed DOA’s original black metal vibe.
Splicing the Mosh Pit and the Dance Floor, the wrecking machine known as Klank has released a barrage of sonic assaults in the form of Still Suffering, the In Memory Of… EP and NUMB…Reborn. Breaking musical boundaries with a sound described as Dancy Aggressive Dark Electronically Influenced Groove, Klank spent 18 weeks on the CMJ Top 40 charts with their monster single “Downside” I recently spoke with Klank himself to discuss the gear behind the bands trademark sound.
For years now the industrial metal act Klank has been pounding out molten metal and deeply infectious grooves. Their music splices the mosh pit with the dance hall and really packs a punch. I recently had the opportunity to sit down with drummer Eric Wilkins to discuss the gear he uses to obtain and maintain the grooving beat that is the backbone of the band’s sound.
When I first heard that Christian Olde Wolbers and Raymond Herrera (both of Fear Factory) were working on a new band with Jon Howard and Pat Kavanagh (both of Threat Signal) I was hooked right then and there. Alas, March 3rd, the original and promised release date came and went. I had to wait until July 14th 2009, when Years In The Darkness was…
Mushroomhead is an Industrial Metal band that has been ruling the industrial scene for 16 years. That’s a long time for one band to still be together… and not be sick of each other. The band has an undeniable sound and their signature “X-Face” masks are masks that cannot be easily forgotten.
Rio Grande Blood is the tenth studio album by industrial metal band Ministry, released in 2006. It is their first release through 13th Planet and Megaforce Records.
