Finishing up their current tour with Papa Roach and Seether, we met up with Mikey and J.R. on February 5th, 2015 in San Francisco, CA after their set at The Warfield.
Miss May I, the Troy, Ohio-based metalcore quintet, released their fourth studio album, Rise of the Lion, on April 25, 2014 via Rise Records. Boasting a sick mix of thrash, groove and various other metallic elements, Rise of the Lion is a metal recording of monstrous proportions. Currently touring the U.S. with Affiance, the band will play shows leading up to their performance on stage 003 at this year’s Knotfest. We checked in with guitarist BJ Stead who humored us with some answers to some of our less-than-professional interview questions.
Suicide Silence’s Eddie Hermida knew he had to bring a lot to the table when taking over as the band’s vocalist after Mitch Lucker’s unexpected death. There’s an old saying that a group simply can’t survive the death of its vocalist, cue You Can’t Stop Us, Suicide Silence’s first release since the Mitch’s passing. Found in one of Mitch’s iPads, the repetition of the lyrics “you can’t stop us,” quickly became the only option for an album title, “the whole record is supposed to make people feel like ‘hey, I’m going to get up, I’m going to make today my bitch.'”
Boston, MA-based rock band, Crash Midnight, are hard at work prepping to release their debut album, Lost in the City, on October 20th, 2014. The band play lean and mean punk-infused rock and roll, and they’re no strangers to humour! Recently, we sat down with Shaun Soho (lead vocals), Bo (bass), and Alex Donaldson (lead/rhythm guitar) to get their take on some of our Purely Provocative interview questions. Here’s whet they had to say….
Fangirls (and guys) rejoice! They love you, they really, really love you! That’s right, the guys of The Maine, John O’Callaghan, Kennedy Brock, Jared Monaco, Garrett Nickelsen, and Pat Kirch, love you, yes, you. The Maine’s Kennedy Brock confirms it, “we really accept it, embrace it, and love it.” The Maine has a pretty intense fan base, Bieber style fan girls, but they dress WAY better than the Beliebers. Of their fandom, Kennedy says that they brought it on themselves, this is the kind of fanship they wanted as a band.
Heavy TO… the bands were all fantastic, but the crowd might have been, at times, equally as interesting. From plenty of hot rocker women to mud men making the best of the weather, these pictures reflect the event’s true soul. Dressing to represent and braving the nasty elements that mother nature dished out those two days, these fans were more than willing to share their love of the music in front of my camera. These pictures are stills taken from a forthcoming video titled “Welcome to Heavy TO”, coming here soon. If you missed this event, you missed a coming together of all sorts of people with one common goal… to rock hard and support great music. And that they did!
Way back in 2007, while at a small cafe, Machine Head drummer Dave McClain was nice enough to record and send us a short video clip where he says what’s up to the site and fans. Thanks Dave!
working bands in metal, as well as a ferocious live act-and they bring all of that raw aggression into the creation of their third album, ‘Worlds Torn Asunder’, scheduled for a September 27th release date.
