German thrash metallers Exumer have announced The Raging Tides as their upcoming fourth full-length, set to be released January 29th via Metal Blade Records.

In light of the release of Exumer’s third studio album, and first in over 25 years, I caught up with frontman and vocalist Mem Von Stein to discuss among other things, the new record Fire & Damnation, his day job and his view on why Exumer didn’t make it into the revered ranks of the Big Three of teutonic thrash metal. Von Stein and I also go on to speak about the difficulties faced by the band over the years, his retrospective views on the unholy trio’s success, the surprisingly un-metal activities he does outside of his music career, and an inane question from yours Truly. Some bands never got what they deserved during their time. In the ’80s, when the thrash metal movement was spreading its hard-livin’, no-fucks-given ideology all over the world from America, one European country in particular was especially enticed by it: Germany. Spawning what would eventually be known as “Teutonic Thrash Metal”, Germany was the next go-to country for rabid thrash metal fans; with the unholy trio of Destruction, Kreator and Sodom being to German thrashers what the Big Four (Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer) were to Americans.

Exumer are unveiling the third single from ‘Fire & Damnation’ HERE. “The Weakest Limb” is the latest in a batch of singles to be heard from the album. ‘Fire&& Damnation’ will be released worldwide by Metal Blade Records – April 10th in North America and April 6th/10th in Europe/UK.
