Chris Cornell died unexpectedly this morning and, although most people are going to immediately dive into self-indulgent clichés about how he’s “gone but not forgotten” or how “the music will live forever”, the truth is, he helped make music matter.
“Eulogy,” the powerful new track from Conveyer’s upcoming album When Given Time To Grow, will be available on September 4th. Hear the new track “Eulogy” via YouTube now!
Eulogy was formed in Davis, CA by guitarists Zakk Thonen and Brett Worley, who met through their mutual guitar teacher Mike Clements. Drawing influences heavily from bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and King Diamond, the two began writing riffs before the bassist and drummer slots were filled by Bretts old friend Andy McCauley, and Rowan McGuire… who happened to live on Bretts street and play drums.
Ben Forte, bassist for the Canadian metal band Fallsaf, took a moment to speak with me about the band’s newest release, Bastard Sons Of A Pure Breed. If you haven’t heard these guys yet you really need to check them out, if for no other reason than just to find out what “Pure Brass Metal” really is. What you’ll find is a solid metal record with a (brutally brass) trombone thrown prominently into the mix. This is unlike anything I have heard, but trust me it works and it works well. Here’s what Forte had to say.
