I came across these guys a few years ago when a copy of their release Catch For Us the Metal came across my desk. I was immediately intrigued by their unique blending of metalcore and southern rock and over the years have revisited that album on more than one occasion. When I received their latest disc, Vulture, I popped it in, kicked back and began listening, expecting more of the same. After the first few notes I had to stop and see if this was indeed the same band; I was literally blown away. This is so much heavier, aggressive and more cohesive than their previous work.

Living Sacrifice is regarded as one of the most influential bands in the Christian metal music scene; they were indeed one of the first bands to play heavy, thrashy Christian Music. Since 1989 they’ve released seven full-length records and have toured the world numerous times. This DVD was filmed on August 15th, 2009 in Pomona, California and captures the band doing what they do best; rocking a packed house.

Alternative/nu metal band Red has been a familiar face within the Christian rock scene for years. They’ve entertained fans of all ages worldwide hitting charts and being twice nominated for Best Rock Gospel Album at the Grammys. Red are now back with their third CD, Until We Have Faces, and first release as a four piece band.

Following last week’s stream of their debut album ‘Monoculture’ out today on Tooth & Nail Records, Long Island’s Sainthood Reps have announced plans to extend their upcoming West Coast tour taking place this September. In addition to, and immediately following their appearances with Brand New, the band has announced additional dates along the West Coast supporting friends and contemporaries Seahaven, full itinerary below.

Following news of their upcoming West Coast dates with Brand New, Long Island’s Sainthood Reps have just premiered two new songs from their forthcoming debut album ‘Monoculture’ (out August 9th on Tooth & Nail Records) HERE. The new tracks “Dingus” and “Hunter” follow the launch of the album’s pre-order which is available by clicking the link HERE.

August Burns Red guitarist JB Brubaker spoke with me recently about the band’s new release, Leveler. This new disc is not only heavier than previous work, but also includes some different styles and instrumentation than fans might be used to. For example, the song “Internal Cannon” has a sort of Spanish style Mariachi thing running through it. The band is currently touring through Russia, but will be back in the United States in time to headline this summer’s Vans Warped Tour.

Atlanta, GA’s The Chariot recently posted the new track “Music Of A Grateful Heart” on their official Facebook page. The track is cut from the new vinyl LP version of the band’s latest Good Fight Music release, ‘Long Live’, set to release on August 2nd. The digital and physical CD version of ‘Long Live’ was originally released on November 22nd, 2010 and is the band’s fourth full-length album to date.

More often than not when I’m eagerly anticipating the release of a record I end up disappointed; on almost every occasion the release does not live up to the hype. There’s an exception to every rule though and Kingdom Days in an Evil Age is just that. As a long time Sleeping Giant fan I couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into this disc and thankfully after a once through I was not disappointed in the least.
