Blackguard are one of the hardest working bands in metal today. Since the release of their album Profugus Mortis the group has not stopped touring; destroying every stage on which they perform. Though their road warrior lifestyle has resulted in the loss of a few members along the way, Blackguard has been able to garner a strong following and their continued drive seems to result in exciting new music.
Lineup: Symphony X, Powerglove, Blackguard and Borealis. This tour has seen it’s share of mishaps with Soilwork and Nevermore leaving before the adventure even started. Never the less, the three remaining bands packed up and hit the road. A week into the tour the trio stopped off at The Opera House in Toronto inviting local power metal band Borealis to share the stage with them.
Paul “Ablaze” Zinay, vocalist for the metal band Blackguard took some time out of his busy touring schedule to answer some questions about the group’s newest release, Firefight. This release is an all-out assault on the senses right from the beginning; brash, aggressive and in-your-face these tunes will have listeners’ snapping their necks in no time at all. I had the opportunity to spend some time with these guys and see them perform on the 70,000 Tons Of Metal Cruise and let me tell you, this is some real good stuff.
