Melodic death metal heroes Amon Amarth are pleased to unveil the details of their ninth studio album. Titled Deceiver of the Gods, the epic offering was recorded at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, UK, and produced, mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap (Opeth, Megadeth, Exodus, Arch Enemy, Killswitch Engage). The cover art was, once again, completed by Tom Thiel, and depicts a mythical battle between the Norse Gods Loki and Thor. Fans will also recognize a special appearance on this album with Messiah Marcolin (Candlemass) providing guest vocals for eighth song, “Hel.” Deceiver of the Gods will be released in North America via Metal Blade Records June 25th, in Europe June 21st/24th and Japan on June 26th.

Starting today, fans can check out the new Amon Amarth music video for the song “Destroyer Of The Universe” off the band’s latest release, ‘Surtur Rising’. The live video, which is premiering below , was shot on the band’s May 6th stop in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Theatre Of Living Arts by director David Brodsky of MyGoodEye (The Black Dahlia Murder, The Devin Townsend Project, Suicide Silence, Municipal Waste, Whitechapel, etc).

Fredrik Andersson, drummer for the death metal titans Amon Amarth, recently took a moment to answer some questions for PureGrainAudio. With the release of their latest studio record, Surtur Rising, Amon Amarth once again proves they’re a force to be reckoned with. This is the band’s 8th release and what I feel is their best offering yet. Surtur Rising is ten unbelievable, melodic death metal tracks that really showcase the band at the top of their game. Johan Hegg, leader of Viking-inspired death metal collective Amon Amarth, will premiere “War Of The Gods” on Full Metal Jackie’s syndicated metal radio show this coming weekend (January 28 – January 30). “War Of The Gods” is the opening track off the band’s anticipated ‘Surtur Rising’ full-length, scheduled for North American release via Metal Blade on March 29, 2011.
