Like the sound of a skateboard’s trucks grinding on a metal rail or the deck’s wood scraping against the concrete, Camp Kill Yourself’s sound has always been raw and uncut. With a unique and unrelenting blend of craggy driving guitar riffs and equally captivating percussion, bass lines, and vocals, Camp Kill Yourself (or CKY for short) is totally addictive.
Have you ever awoken from a dream that was so frighteningly vivid, that you seriously questioned whether you were ever really asleep at all? As your mind slowly starts to clear, you’re left with a lingering memory of either horrifying or fantastic visions; images and thoughts which whip around your mind as if caught in a cerebral-tornado.
The United Kingdom has long since been home to innumerable talented rock music acts, many of which have achieved world renowned acclaim. With groups such as The Beatles, The Sex Pistols, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Pink Floyd, and Black Sabbath (to name but a few), it is impossible to deny the vast amount and sheer quality of music that the U.K. has thus far offered the world.
For reasons unbeknownst to me, when people think of Sweden, they generally envision blonde-haired, blue-eyed people who are rather mild-mannered and pleasant. Well, sorry to disillusion you, but Soilwork, a band native to Sweden, blows that peculiar preconception straight to hell. Soilwork’s five members might be nice people when it comes down to it, but their music is nothing short of maniacally insane.
You have the ice-cold metallic barrel of a gun pressed against your head. The nervous sweat and crocodile tears are streaming down your face. And then it happens, your assailant asks you that one ridiculously important question; one that could spell out whether you live or die. “Who is this year’s absolute best new hard music act?” he asks in his deep angry voice.
