If you try to think to yourself, “What is the best modern thrash band out there?”, you’d need to be aimed in the direction of Sylosis’ debut album, Conclusion Of An Age. It is without a doubt, the way modern metal needs to be played.
Mushroomhead is an Industrial Metal band that has been ruling the industrial scene for 16 years. That’s a long time for one band to still be together… and not be sick of each other. The band has an undeniable sound and their signature “X-Face” masks are masks that cannot be easily forgotten.
If Thrash was to choose a successor, I’d say it would have to be Grief Of War. They stay true to traditional, REAL Thrash Metal and while they are based out of Tokyo, Japan, that does not mean that can’t pull some amazing metal out of their asses.
As of late, blackened death metal hasn’t really seen that many new rising bands. Thankfully the Funeral Pyre is ready to change that. It has been a while since the world has seen a decent blackened death metal band and this being said, I’d like to place The Funeral Pyre in the rankings with Satyricon.
Emocore has seen some interesting bands emerge in the past while: Chiodos, Embrace, Escape The Fate, as well as the band in question, A Skylit Drive. The genre is obviously just a blend of modern emo and post-hardcore and you can imagine how high up in the rankings this band stands, considering they have toured with bands…
