Northlane Announce New Album ‘Anemoia’; Drop Single “CUT_it”

Australian heavy music innovators Northlane are set to release their seventh studio album, Anemoia, on October 30th via an independent release. To accompany the announcement, the band has shared the album’s second single, “CUT_it,” alongside an official music video, giving fans another glimpse into what promises to be one of the group’s most dynamic releases to date.

The new track dives into the emotional and physical toll of burnout, pairing oppressive grooves with explosive heaviness while showcasing vocalist Marcus Bridge’s impressive vocal range.

Bridge explains:

“‘CUT_it’ is about burnout – the feeling of grinding through things when you’re completely spent, mentally and physically. The imagery is deliberately visceral, painting a picture of that exhaustion rather than analyzing it.”

Executive produced by Jordan Fish, Anemoia draws inspiration from a performance by UK producer Evian Christ, encouraging guitarist and songwriter Jon Deiley to explore the intersection of trance music, electronic textures, and the band’s signature brand of modern metal. The result is an ambitious record that blends soaring electronic elements with crushing riffs, incorporating everything from drum-and-bass and jungle to atmospheric pop influences.

The album follows the band’s chart-topping 2022 release, Obsidian, while exploring the concept of “anemoia”—nostalgia for a time or place never experienced. According to Bridge, the album balances darkness with optimism rather than embracing despair.

“There’s darkness here, but it’s not nihilism—and there’s hope, but it’s not naivety.”

With more than 15 years together, multiple chart successes, and over 500 million streams, Northlane continue to push the boundaries of modern heavy music.

Northlane recently wrapped an extensive North American run supporting Dayseeker and are currently performing at festivals across the UK and Europe before returning later this year for the Hellbound Cruise and another European trek with Dayseeker.
