Little Falls Trophy Encourages You to “Let It Go” with Their New Single [Premiere]

There’s so much familiarity and relatability in Little Falls Trophy’s new single “Let It Go” (Rock Ridge Music) that you can’t help but feel something for it. Just the title itself makes the point lead singer Doug Albregts is trying to make fairly self-explanatory. The band reemerges today with their latest single. It’s their second new single of the year, following the June release of “Greenwich Village.”

“Let It Go” has all the radio friendliness that you have come to expect from Little Falls Trophy. There will be more where that came from on the band’s upcoming new album Everywhere You Want It to Be. Due for release later this year, it will feature more of the band’s signature blend of melodic, guitar-driven songs predicated on textured arrangements, strong hooks, and emotional clarity.

Discussing the song and its relatability, Albregts states:

“It’s about the crap we tell ourselves. The rules. The lines. The ‘what if’ conversations you have in your head at 2 am. A lot of that isn’t real. It’s just fear dressed up to sound responsible. The ‘formal wear’ line is about walking through life kind of stiff — like you’re constantly being judged. The chorus is the reminder. Let it go. And more importantly… don’t let it come back around. That’s the battle. I never wanted ‘Let It Go’ to be a song that tells people what to do.

“It came from thinking about how much of our lives we spend holding onto things that were never meant to stay — expectations, fear, old stories, even the version of life we thought we were supposed to have. The more I worked on it, the more I realized the song isn’t really about losing something. It’s about making room for whatever comes next. If there’s a message, it’s that sometimes the greatest act of faith is simply letting go and trusting that life has a way of putting you exactly where you need to be.”

We have gotten to know Little Falls Trophy over the last couple of years with the premiere of “Thursday’s Friday” and “Project 6636.” Everywhere You Want It to Be represents a new era for the band. The album is more musically diverse and focused than previous releases. There is a nice balance of electric and acoustic elements, with an approach from Albregts and his bandmates that is direct and genuine. The songs feel very real, probably because of how they came together. They were written during a period of significant personal change. That perspective is continuous throughout the album, underscored by sharp observations and understated humour. The album is reflective and confident, but it avoids being overblown and heavy-handed.

It’s a nice record for this point in time. In an era where people are overwhelmed with information and opinions, Everywhere You Want It to Be is an album structured around traditional musical values. It’s premised around positivity and providing the listener with an enlightening, easygoing experience. In this day and age, that is a respectable approach to art and music.
