Codefendants Partner with Factor Chandelier on “RAW” featuring P.O.S.

Codefendants have teamed up with acclaimed Canadian producer Factor Chandelier for a new collaborative hip-hop project, kicking off the partnership with the gritty new single “RAW,” featuring Minneapolis emcee P.O.S. of Doomtree.

The track arrives fresh off the success of LIFERS, which has surpassed five million streams, and marks a new direction for the group, whose music has consistently blurred the lines between punk, hip-hop, and alternative music.

With Factor Chandelier behind the boards, “RAW” puts Codefendants’ underground rap roots front and center. The forthcoming project is built around Factor’s cinematic production and the lyrical chemistry of Ceschi Ramos and Sam King, while also bringing some of underground hip-hop’s most respected voices into the fold.

“RAW” serves as an anti-authoritarian anthem told from three distinct perspectives, with Codefendants and P.O.S. exploring individual and collective resistance through surreal, apocalyptic imagery. The song takes aim at policing, unchecked corporate power, partisan politics, religious hypocrisy, and industries that profit from fear and division.

Rather than leaning on simple slogans or easy answers, the track embraces the perspective of people who have never comfortably fit within established lines. Inspired by the uncompromising spirit of Minor Threat’s landmark Out of Step EP and Richard Wright’s 1953 novel The Outsider, the song celebrates individuality while rejecting systems that attempt to define it.

Produced entirely by Factor Chandelier, “RAW” features his signature dusty drums, cinematic textures, and hard-hitting production, creating a backdrop for what the group describes as its most hip-hop-driven material to date. The single serves as the opening chapter of a forthcoming collaborative album from Factor Chandelier and Codefendants, rooted in underground hip-hop while retaining the fearless songwriting that has shaped the band’s evolution.

The collaboration further expands Codefendants’ presence within the underground rap community. Earlier this year, the group reunited with Death Row Records legend The D.O.C. on “Rivals,” from LIFERS, following their acclaimed 2023 collaboration “Fast Ones” from THIS IS CRIMEWAVE. That release marked The D.O.C.’s first new recorded performance in nearly two decades.

Now, “RAW” continues Codefendants’ crossover between punk and hip-hop, bringing together a lineup of artists with deep roots in both worlds.

The single is also being released in partnership with internationally renowned activist collective Indecline, with a limited collection of exclusive merchandise accompanying the campaign. The collection includes a tactical duffle bag, Codefendants-branded bolt cutters, and other collector’s items created specifically for the release.

A portion of proceeds from every bundle sold will benefit the Immigrant Defense Project, supporting its work defending the rights of immigrants and refugees.

With “RAW,” Factor Chandelier and Codefendants are launching a new creative chapter built around uncompromising underground hip-hop, fearless political commentary, and collaborations with some of the genre’s most respected voices.
