With that in mind, we’ve picked thirteen artists we believe deserve a place on your schedule. Whether you’re chasing crushing death metal, theatrical spectacle, hardcore intensity or classic heavy metal, these are the bands you won’t want to miss at Catton Hall this August.

1. Crytopsy

Making their long-awaited Bloodstock debut, Canadian technical death metal outfit Crytopsy are not to be missed. Headlining the Sophie Lancaster Stage on the Thursday of the festival, they will be playing their now legendary 1996 death metal masterpiece None So Vile in its entirety to mark its 30 year anniversary. If you are a fan of shredding that sounds like it could genuinely be severing fingers, drum blasts that will involuntarily rattle your eyes into the back of your head, and vocals that strike a glaring resemblance to a chainsaw striking concrete, then, like me, you are going to have a wonderful time. Cryptopsy are tech death royalty, and this is a fantastic opportunity to watch masters at work.

2. Neckbreakker

Despite only forming in 2020, Danish death metal outfit Neckbreakker have rapidly established themselves as one of Europe’s most exciting new extreme metal bands. Building their reputation through relentless touring, the quintet have shared stages with a plethora of modern extreme metal heavyweights before releasing their acclaimed debut album, Within the Viscera. Blending old-school Scandinavian death metal with modern hardcore intensity, the record is packed with crushing riffs, ferocious grooves and uncompromising energy, all of which translate brilliantly to the live stage. If you’re looking to discover one of metal’s fastest-rising new names at Bloodstock, Neckbreakker’s set promises relentless aggression, infectious energy and a glimpse of a band that looks destined for much bigger stages in the years ahead.

3. Biohazard

Speaking of legends, Biohazard make their third Bloodstock Open Air appearance in 2026, and this time they are bringing their groove-laden brand of metal and hip-hop-infused New York Hardcore to the main stage. Having successfully headlined the Sophie Lancaster stage in 2023, Biohazard are set to bring the punishment to Catton Hall once more, featuring the classic lineup of Evan Seinfeld, Billy Graziadei, Bobby Hambel and Danny Schuler. Expect circle pits, sing-alongs, and an icon-level of mayhem, they don’t make ‘em like Biohazard anymore. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this.

4. Mushroomhead

Few bands deliver a live spectacle quite like Mushroomhead. Formed in Cleveland, Ohio, in the early 1990s, the alternative metal pioneers have spent more than three decades building a reputation for theatrical performances, distinctive masks and an industrial-infused sound that blends metal, hard rock and experimental elements. With a catalogue spanning classics such as XX through to their latest material, the band continue to evolve while retaining the dark, cinematic atmosphere that has made them fan favourites around the world. Their combination of pounding grooves, multiple vocalists, striking visuals and relentless stage presence makes every performance an immersive experience. Whether you’re a long-time fan or discovering them for the first time, Mushroomhead’s Bloodstock appearance promises one of the festival’s most memorable and visually captivating sets.

5. Kittie

Back in the early 2000s, the entire metal landscape was being dominated by bands who all had a DJ on stage with them, men in red baseball caps making songs about sex and masked or face-painted lunatics singing about heartbreak and murder. When Kittie broke through with their debut full length release Spit, they brought something different and drastically needed to the table. As an all female outfit operating in the early 2000s nu-metal scene, we should be hailing and celebrating this bands ability to navigate through one of the most male dominated and tumultuous times in metals history. They have come out the other side as a well respected outfit with a wealth of intense and interesting songs that are a perfect fit for the main stage of Bloodstock 2026.

6. Sanguisugabogg

Ohio death metal quartet Sanguisugabogg have become one of the most talked-about names in modern extreme metal thanks to their filthy, old-school sound and unforgettable live shows. Since emerging in 2019, the band have earned a devoted following by fusing brutal death metal, death-doom and groove-laden riffs with a tongue-in-cheek attitude that sets them apart from many of their peers. Their acclaimed albums, Tortured Whole and Homicidal Ecstasy, have cemented their reputation in the heavy music scene. Expect crushing breakdowns, monstrous riffs and an filth-soaked performance that perfectly captures the band’s uncompromising approach. If you’re after one of the heaviest and most entertaining sets of the weekend, Sanguisugabogg are an essential Bloodstock stop.

7. Imperial Age

Symphonic metal outfit Imperial Age have carved out a unique place in the genre with their grand, cinematic sound, combining soaring male and female vocals, orchestral arrangements and epic storytelling. Formed in 2012, the band have built an international following through extensive touring and a fiercely independent approach, funding their releases and tours directly through their fanbase. Albums including Turn the Sun Off!, The Legacy of Atlantis and New World showcase their blend of symphonic metal, power metal and cinematic influences, brought to life with impressive musicianship and theatrical live performances. If you’re drawn to huge choruses, fantasy-inspired themes and immersive stage shows, Imperial Age are set to deliver one of Bloodstock’s most dramatic and uplifting performances.

8. Black Label Society

It’s been a hell of a decade for Mr Zakk Wylde, or as he should be known, the busiest person in metal. From the release of his second solo album, touring with Steve Vai and super group Generation Axe, two Zakk Sabbath albums, touring the world with Pantera and saying goodbye to his good friend Ozzy Osbourne. In between all of this and being a father to four kids, Black Label Society have released two full-length records, one EP and a greatest hits. In 2026, they release their first full length record in five years, and what better time for them to make their Bloodstock return. Expect huge riffs, southern grooves and solos that shake your spine out of your back. Black Label Society are the embodiment of heavy metal, and this is going to be one to remember.

9. Lamb Of God

It’s crazy to imagine that in 2026 Lamb Of God are now considered a classic metal band. Having watched them live since they first came to these shores in the early 2000s, it still blows my mind that they have gone from the clubs and academies to opportunities such as this to headline Bloodstock Festival for a second time. Lamb Of God have made a career out of producing nothing but 9/10 out of 10 metal records, they have enormous, memorable hits, and live they are one of the very best to ever do it. There is a really endearing and safe space energy to watching Lamb Of God live, the music may be nuclear heavy, and the sentiment of the performance will always be intense and confronting, but the atmosphere is always that of celebration and unity. We have very few living and active iconic metal bands, here’s your chance to see one.

10. Dead Bait

Northamptonshire newcomers Dead Bait arrive at Bloodstock after earning their place on the New Blood Stage through the Metal 2 The Masses competition, a proving ground that has launched countless rising names in UK metal. Blending elements of hardcore, metalcore and rock, the band arrive at Bloodstock to deliver what promises to be a cathartic, high-intensity live performance. Their uncompromising sound and energetic stage presence have quickly made them one of the most promising emerging acts on the UK underground circuit, with Bloodstock providing their biggest platform to date. If you enjoy discovering tomorrow’s heavy hitters before everyone else, Dead Bait are well worth making time for.

11. Life Of Agony

Heavy Metal Hall Of Famers Life Of Agony FINALLY make their Bloodstock Festival debut in 2026. After previously cancelled appearances, we get to revel in one of the best metal / hardcore cross over bands of the late 90s early 2000s. A band who have inspired and influenced so many artists with their unique vocal sound, groovy hardcore time sequences and metal guitar riffs that will knock your head into the dirt. Last year saw the band celebrating 30 years of their sophomore record Ugly, and this year I’m hoping to see a blend of the countless classics they have in their arsenal. They have the weapons and years of experience to absolutely eviscerate a main stage festival crowd, and I expect the old guard of fans to turn up in force and a generation of new fans to be formed.

12. Blood Countess

Emerging from the North East of England, Blood Countess have quickly become one of the UK’s most exciting black metal acts by embracing the icy ferocity of the genre’s second wave while adding their own dark historical narrative. Their 2022 album, Occulta Tenebris, draws inspiration from the infamous 16th-century Hungarian Erzsébet Báthory, delivering a relentless blend of blast beats, razor-sharp riffs and haunting atmosphere. The band’s intense live performances have earned them a growing reputation, with a theatrical stage presence that captures the sinister themes running through their music. If you’re looking for authentic, uncompromising black metal at Bloodstock, Blood Countess promise a fierce and immersive performance that showcases why they are rapidly becoming one of the UK’s most talked-about underground bands.

13. Body Count

Few bands have been more requested to appear at Bloodstock than Body Count. Fronted by the legendary Ice-T, the Los Angeles outfit have spent more than three decades fusing hardcore punk, thrash and heavy metal into a confrontational sound that remains as relevant today as when their self-titled debut shocked audiences in the early 1990s. Never afraid to tackle social and political issues, the band have continued to evolve through acclaimed releases including Bloodlust, Carnivore and Merciless, proving they are far more than a nostalgia act. Live, Body Count deliver an uncompromising mix of crushing riffs, razor-sharp musicianship and commanding stage presence, making every performance feel urgent and powerful. For anyone wanting to witness one of heavy music’s most controversial and enduring acts, their long-awaited Bloodstock appearance is simply unmissable.
