Whitmer Thomas Returns to HBO with Comedy & Music Special ‘Terminal Crew of Dudes’

Comedian, actor, writer, filmmaker, and musician Whitmer Thomas is making his return to HBO with a brand-new original comedy special. Whitmer Thomas: Terminal Crew of Dudes premieres Friday, August 14th at 9:00 pm ET/PT on HBO and will also be available to stream on HBO Max.

Following the success of his acclaimed HBO debut The Golden One, Thomas once again combines stand-up comedy with music and deeply personal storytelling. This latest special explores his upbringing in small-town Alabama and his lifelong pursuit of fitting in, while celebrating the friendships and experiences that shaped him.

Unlike a traditional stand-up set, Terminal Crew of Dudes incorporates original songs, childhood photos, and home videos throughout the performance. Thomas is joined onstage by his longtime friends and bandmates—Jeremy Ritchie, Clay Tatum, Budd Diaz, and his brother Johnny McCann—as he recounts stories ranging from youthful skateboarding adventures and elaborate pranks to an unforgettable Benihana birthday party gone wrong.

Thomas states:

The special is written and performed by Thomas and co-directed by Thomas and Clay Tatum. Executive producers include Tim Robinson, Matthew Vaughan, Josh Kessler, Olivia Gerke, Ramy Katrib, Clay Tatum, and Whitmer Thomas himself, with original music composed by Thomas.

Thomas has continued to build an impressive résumé across comedy, film, television, and music. In addition to his HBO special The Golden One, he co-wrote and starred in the acclaimed independent film The Civil Dead, has appeared in the films Weapons and Friendship, and has released multiple albums showcasing his distinctive blend of comedy and songwriting.
