Rico Nasty Announces Kenneth Blume-Produced Album ‘RX’
Rico Nasty Announces New Album ‘RX,’ Produced by Kenneth Blume, Shares New Single “Cupcake.”
Rapper and genre-defying artist Rico Nasty has officially announced her new album, RX, set for release on July 24th. Produced by Kenneth Blume (formerly known as Kenny Beats), the forthcoming record marks a reunion between the longtime collaborators and promises a return to the raw, fearless energy that first established Rico as one of hip-hop’s most distinctive voices.
Alongside the album announcement, Rico has released the infectious new single “Cupcake,” accompanied by an official music video directed by Miggy.
Recorded between filming her acting debut in the upcoming Apple TV+ series Margot’s Got Money Troubles and touring throughout late 2025, RX finds Rico intentionally reconnecting with the creative instincts that launched her career.
Rather than chasing trends, she reunited with Kenneth Blume, the producer behind the acclaimed 2019 collaborative mixtape Anger Management and the explosive fan favourite “Smack A Bitch.”
Speaking about working together again, Rico explains:
“I missed someone that was honest with me. And I missed someone who knew me back then, before I had any success. I felt like if I’m going to get back to doing me, I should go back to someone who can be real with me.”
The pair reportedly spent four months crafting the album, resulting in a collection of songs that blend Rico’s signature aggression, humour, punk influences, and trap production. The album also features contributions from Dylan Brady (100 gecs), who produced the track “Kiss N Makeup.”
Blume adds:
“RX feels like a homecoming. This project is a reminder of where she came from, what made us all fans—and a scary look at how much better she keeps getting.”
The bubbly new single follows June’s release of “Rituals,” which earned praise from outlets including Rolling Stone, Stereogum, Alternative Press, The FADER, Consequence, Hypebeast, and GENIUS.
While “Rituals” showcased Rico’s darker, experimental side, “Cupcake” leans into what she describes as her “sugar trap” sound, balancing playful production with her unmistakable swagger.
RX follows Rico Nasty’s LETHAL era, including the LETHAL-ER deluxe edition released last December. The expanded release featured five additional tracks—“PEARLS,” “PRETEA,” “BLACK LACE,” “STUNNA,” and “PEPPER”—the latter of which also reunited Rico with Blume, foreshadowing their latest collaboration.
With RX, Rico appears poised to revisit the energy that made her one of rap’s most exciting innovators while continuing to evolve creatively.
