Weezer Announce Self-Titled Album out August 21st!

Legendary alt-rock outfit Weezer have officially announced their 20th studio album, Weezer, arriving August 21st, 2026, via Warner Records and Reprise Records.

Alongside the announcement, the band has released the album’s lead single, “We Might As Well Be Strangers,” featuring Wednesday vocalist Karly Hartzman.

The upcoming record follows Weezer’s sold-out 30th anniversary tour celebrating their iconic 1994 self-titled debut, commonly known as the “Blue Album.” After revisiting their roots on stage, the band regrouped in Orange County, California, returning to a rehearsal-space environment to create the new material collaboratively.

According to the band, Weezer was built from live, in-room performances and organic songwriting sessions between frontman Rivers Cuomo, drummer Pat Wilson, bassist Scott Shriner, and guitarist Brian Bell. Notably, Cuomo and Wilson co-wrote songs together for the first time since the band’s debut album.

Production duties were split between Swedish producer Klas Åhlund and producer/songwriter Kenny Beats, who reportedly aimed to make “the most violent Weezer album ever.” The sessions emphasized raw performances with minimal studio correction, no click tracks, and live tracking from the entire band.

Earlier this year, Weezer also announced their extensive “Weezer: The Gathering” North American tour, featuring support from The Shins and Silversun Pickups.
