Soul Asylum Announces 2026 Worldwide Tour; Releases Live Recording “What Will Become of Me”

Legendary alternative rock band Soul Asylum has announced an extensive 2026 worldwide tour spanning North America, South America, and Europe, while also unveiling the long-awaited live recording of fan-favourite track “What Will Become of Me.”

The newly released song arrives ahead of the band’s forthcoming live album MPLS Unplugged, due out August 28th, 2026, via Blue Élan Records.

Originally performed live in 1995, “What Will Become of Me” became one of the most sought-after unreleased songs in Soul Asylum’s catalog. Despite never receiving an official studio or live release, the track developed a devoted following among longtime fans over the decades.

Now, more than 30 years later, the song finally receives an official release as part of MPLS Unplugged, a special live album commemorating the 30th anniversary of the band’s iconic 1993 MTV Unplugged appearance.

Recorded on April 20th, 2023, at Minneapolis’ historic State Theatre, the album captures the band in an intimate live setting while revisiting songs from across their celebrated career.

Current frontman Dave Pirner is joined by guitarist Ryan Smith, bassist Jeremy Tapparo, drummer Michael Bland, returning keyboardist Ivan Neville, the STRINGenius string quartet, and the Robert Robinson Gospel Singers. Neville’s involvement is especially significant, having also performed during the original 1993 MTV Unplugged session.

Alongside “What Will Become of Me,” the album also features “Farmer John,” another longtime live staple that had previously never been officially recorded or released.

The newly announced tour will bring Soul Asylum to clubs, festivals, and theaters across multiple continents throughout 2026.

Additional dates are expected to be announced in the coming months. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 5th.
